Kate Spencer

Kate Spencer is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Since 2008 she has worked in clinical settings for government and non-government organisations. Kate has held positions within Child, Youth & Families, the Australian Childhood Foundation and in youth justice custodial setting.

How Kate can help:

Kate is experienced in providing child, adolescent and adult mental health assessment, therapy, consultation and training. She has experiencing working with a range of mental health presentation, including anxiety, depression, sleep, family-related conflict and interpersonal problems. She has a special interest in trauma and attachment disruption.

Kate’s work is informed by an understanding of neurodevelopment, is client centered and family and system inclusive. All clients can expect a strength based and relational approach to therapy.

Kate holds Board Approved Supervisor (BAS) status with the Psychology board of Australia. She is able to provide professional supervision services for psychologists undertaking their provisional year (5+1), completing their Clinical registrar program or seeking senior professional clinical supervision across a wide range of clinical specialisations. She delivers training for parents, carers, students, professionals and organisations on various topics including neurobiology of trauma, adolescent brain development, self care and professional boundaries.

Kate’s work is informed by a number of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Kate will be working on Wednesday evenings and currently has capacity to take on new referrals.
Kate is unable to work with clients who have had involvement with Child and Youth Protections Services within the last 2 years.
